Technology behind the AURA Strap 2

AURA Strap 2 uses BIA, or bioelectrical impedance analysis, to measure body composition.

It’s the same technology used in another popular body composition calculator known as a smart scale. It passes a low electric current through the body and measures the electrical resistance to that current, which makes it possible to calculate total body water percentage.

Once total body water is determined, other information can be deduced, such as fat mass, lean mass, and muscle mass, giving you your body fat percentage and several other useful indicators.

To maximize efficiency and mobility, AURA Strap 2 makes a BIA measurement by transmitting alternating current from hand-to-hand through the wearer’s chest. This allows convenience and a more fast and accurate measurement.

How to Take a Measurement?

1. Stand up and prepare

Stand up and raise your hands in front of your chest to take a measurement. Do not let your hands touch each other or contact your body with your elbows.

2. Use the shaded zone

It is better to touch the electrodes on the front with a specific part of your hand near the thumb (shaded zone) to achieve maximum accuracy of the measurement.

3. Touch the electrodes

To make a perfect measurement, touch the electrodes on the front side of the device with your free hand according to the picture above. To make a more accurate measurement, relax your hands.

How to Make Sure Your Measurement is Most Precise?

If your goal provides reaching a certain weight / body type, we recommend prioritizing long-term trends over immediate data that you get from measurements.If your hands are damp with water or sweat, dry them: moisture will interfere with the pulse required for measurements.Please take measurements while standing, as it improves the accuracy. You can also do it while sitting, we recommend not to change the pose from measurement to measurement.Measurement is best done once a day. Body water level changes during the day, so if you take measurements several times a day, the data may differ markedly due to those changes.You will get the most consistent results if you take measurements under the same conditions once a day. We recommend taking measurements in the evening before eating.Hands should be clean (Avoid dust, flour, magnesia or other loose materials on the hands).You should not be excessively sweaty or wet during the measurement.Too hairy hands can create a slight loss in accuracy.

Measurement accuracy may depend on such factors as the position of the hands, the level of muscle tension, the amount of recently consumed liquid, the dryness of the skin, and the emotional state. The above may affect not only the precision of the measurements but also their repeatability and consistency.

Watch Trends, Not Immediate Data

Due to the variability of measurement results, which may depend on factors that are difficult or even impossible to control by the user, we recommend prioritizing the fitness goal trend over individual measurements, especially if your fitness goal provides reaching a certain weight or body type.
